Ahora, me gustaría aprovechar el blog para comentarles sobre un tema que realmente es algo delicado y complejo. Me refiero al tema del padrinazgo que el presidente el Instituto Peruano de Deporte (IPD), Arturo Woodman, ofreció a Gastón. Como sabrán, a Gastón Bolaños se le ofreció como apoyo la suma de $1500 dólares americanos para que pudiera costear su entrenamiento y demás gastos para poder prepararse, no obstante, conversando del tema con Gastón me señaló que ya no eran $1500 sino $1000, más aún, me comentó que le pusieron como requisito para acceder al apoyo, que estuviera federado, y como todos sabemos, no hay una Federación Peruana de Muay Thai. En conclusión, ante la prensa se pueden ofrecer muchas cosas y apoyo pero a la hora de los hechos todo cambia. Es una lástima que un deportista como Gastón que en todo momento demuestra su orgullo por nuestro país (si ven la pelea que tuvo Gastón por el título mundial podrán apreciar que él a pesar de que recibió más apoyo en el extranjero que aquí, entró con la bandera del Perú, un gesto por demás remarcable), no cuente ni haya contado nunca con el apoyo del estado. El apoyo a los deportistas no debe ser sólo cuando se vuelven conocidos sino debe ser integral y continuo. Esperemos que este tema pueda solucionarse pronto y podamos ver a Gastón preparándose de la manera que él merece. Cualquier comentario, no duden en hacerlo. Gracias!!!
Now I would like to use this blog to comment about a really important subject. I’m talking about the support that the president of the Peruvian Institute of Sport, Arthur Woodman, offered to Gaston Bolaños. As you know, Gaston was offered $1500 american dollars to help him in his expenses so he can prepared himself for the fights. Nevertheless, I had the chance to spoke with Gaston and he told me that the amount was reduced to $1000, even worse, he said that they ask him to be in a federation in order to receive the money and, as we know, there’s no Peruvian Association of Muay Thai. In other words, in front of the media and press, peruvian authorities can offer a lot of promises, but when they need to act, they don’t. I truly believe this behaviour is shameful because an sportsman like Gaston, a person that always showed his pride to his country (if you have the time to see the fight that Gaston had for the world title, you will notice that he appeared and entered the ring with the peruvian flag around him), does not deserve to be without the peruvian state support. Even more, support made to sportsmen and sportswomen should not be done when they reach some kind of fame, it should be complete and constant. We really hope this issue can be solved soon so we can see Gaston preparing himself with all the state support he deserves. If you wish to comment this, you are most welcome. Thanks.
